The Bruce Boucher Partnership and The Hampton Estate
The Hampton Estate is a traditional agricultural estate situated between Farnham and Guildford in Surrey. It comprises farmland, common land, commercial woodland, cottages, houses and a variety of agricultural buildings.
In 2004 the estate commissioned The Bruce Boucher Consultancy to design a biomass district heating system for a range of redundant but attractive farm buildings for which planning consent had been given for office use.
The scheme also included a Manor House, a farmhouse and three cottages.
The development was completed in 2006, all office units are fully occupied and the district heating scheme has played a major part in the success of the project.
All buildings have more than sufficient heat, the specification has been tested and proven, and the use of estate produced wood chip has been of considerable economic benefit.
The development has won the CLA Rural Buildings Award Scheme, South East Area 2007 and The Guildford Borough Council Buildings Heritage and Environment Award 2007.
Bruce Boucher produced a very satisfactory biomass heating scheme and we are delighted to have worked with such a professional and imaginative company.
